Squarefield acted as exclusive financial advisor to Stollenwerk on broadening its inventory financing

In July 2024, our client J. & W. Stollenwerk oHG (“Stollenwerk” or the “Company”), one of the leading companies in the preserved vegetables and fruits industry, successfully broadened the financing of its inventory via a structured solution by Benteler Trading International (“BTI”). Squarefield acted as capital advisor to Stollenwerk.

Stollenwerk

Stollenwerk is a German, family-run company with headquarters near Cologne founded in 1932 by Hubert and Elisabeth Stollenwerk as an agricultural operation. Since 2012 Stollenwerk is run by Willi and Karl Hubert Stollenwerk being the third generation managing the business.

In 1962, the Company started with the canning of cucumbers. Also driven by several add-ons Stollenwerk has substantially widened the product offering to nearly 100 products. These include varieties of preserved vegetables, fruit and pickled salads.

The majority of the turnover is generated in Germany. Stollenwerk offers both private label as well as branded products to its clients being mainly big German food retailers and discounters. Local weather impacts are mitigated by diversified sourcing. The Company has its own fleet of (refrigerated) trucks delivering to the retail / HoReCa clients.

“Squarefield played an essential role in aligning Stollenwerk’s financing. The aim was to reduce the current bank leverage whilst improving our liquidity position, allowing the Company to benefit from improved conditions. Squarefield delivered in all aspects, providing us with the strategic guidance and expertise necessary to achieve our financial objectives.”

Willi Stollenwerk – Owner and Managing Director of Stollenwerk
