On February 13, 2018, our client Parlevliet & Van der Plas (“P&P”) announced it is to acquire all the shares in Deutsche See, the German market leading value-added processor and distributor of premium quality fish, seafood, delicacies and adjacent niche specialties, subject to approval by the competition authorities.
With the acquisition, the P&P and Deutsche See businesses will be vertically connected with each other all the way from catching fish to the plate. As a result, Deutsche See will be able to offer more fish from the German P&P fleet in the future, and this with the usual top quality.
P&P, based in Katwijk in the Netherlands, has been managed by the Parlevliet and Van der Plas families for over 60 years, and employs more than 6,000 people around the world in fishing on over 40 fishing vessels and in processing plants (for example, Heiploeg and Ouwehand). P&P has been an extremely reliable and important supplier and partner for Deutsche See for decades.
