Squarefield acted as exclusive financial advisor to the shareholders of Oerlemans Food Group on the sale to Virto Group
On October 8, 2018, our client Oerlemans Food Group (“Oerlemans” or the “Company”), a privately-owned producer and supplier of fresh frozen vegetables and fruit in the Netherlands, has agreed to sell 100% of the shares of the Company to Virto Group (“Virto”), a Spanish-based leading producer and distributor of deep-frozen vegetables.
With the acquisition, a global player will be created with over EUR 400 million turnover and a footprint in the four main European harvest areas, Spain, France, Benelux/Germany and Poland.
This transaction will secure the availability and quality of fresh raw materials as well as increase the variety and volume of the new combination’s product range. Additionally, the close proximity to the Rotterdam and Gdansk harbours will allow the Group to further improve its logistics capabilities. As a result, the combined group will be better able to meet the increasing customer demand.
Oerlemans Food Group
Oerlemans Foods was founded in 1977 and is a producer and supplier of freshly frozen vegetables and fruit. Next to the domestic markets in Northwest Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Oerlemans exports to more than 40 countries worldwide. Oerlemans Foods focuses primarily on the development and production of private labels for the retail channels but also has a strong position in the food service channel with the Oerlemans Foods brand. The company has around 700 employees spread over 4 locations and generates around EUR 90 million sales. The head office and production in the Netherlands are based in Waalwijk. In Poland Oerlemans operates two production facilities and has an office in Warsaw.
