Squarefield acted as exclusive financial advisor to Bioderij Group B.V (“Bioderij”), the global market leader of ready-to-(h)eat pancake products headquartered in the Netherlands, in concluding their agreement for a sale of the company to Cérélia, a leading European manufacturer of ready-to-bake dough products, headquartered in France.
De Bioderij was founded in 1991 by Jan Vink, who revolutionised large-scale pancake manufacturing and introduced the highly successful ‘Jan’ brand, known for its pancakes and pancakes bites of unrivalled quality. Since the acquisition of Belgium-based Crêapan with its frozen capabilities in 2011, Bioderij has achieved significant growth in other geographies. Going forward, Bioderij will continue to focus on international growth in both retail and foodservice. In this context, Cérélia’s strong footing in Europe will be a major asset in providing access to new markets, such as Spain and Italy. In 2014, De Bioderij and Cérélia generated sales of €55 million and €212 million respectively.
Guillaume Reveilhac - CEO Cérélia“Cérélia and Bioderij are both world-class companies in their respective fields. Walter Kluit and his team have built a group of international reputation, and we are confident that this new combination will provide significant commercial and operational benefits for both companies.”
Walter Kluit - CEO Bioderij“We are truly impressed by the quality of Cérélia’s products, people and customer relationships. We have strong ambitions in terms of international growth and new product development. Teaming up with Cérélia allows us to step up our efforts and will be beneficial to our people, customers and suppliers.”
