On August 30, 2016, H2 Equity Partners (“H2”) acquired a controlling stake in Klaas Puul. An agreement was reached in which the shares of Klaas Puul will be owned by H2, the founding family Mooijer and the company’s management.
Klaas Puul is a leading European shrimp processor with its headquarters in Volendam in the Netherlands and production sites in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Morocco. Klaas Puul was founded in 1968 and has been successfully expanded over the last 50 years by the Mooijer family.
Klaas Puul is known for a broad, deep product range consisting of frozen and fresh North Sea shrimps and tropical shrimps, as well as other seafood products. In 2015, the company, which has about 3,500 staff, had turnover of almost €200 million with healthy profitability. Maiko van der Meer was appointed as general director, and he will lead the company together with Sander van den Berg as financial director.
H2 is an independent investment firm with offices in Amsterdam and London. H2 focuses on medium-sized companies with improvement and growth potential in the Benelux, the United Kingdom and Germany.
Together with the company’s management and the founding family, H2’s aim is to realise Klaas Puul’s large improvement and growth potential, for instance by investing in international marketing and sales, new product development, as well as production technology and capacity.
