On October 1, 2021, our client Food Compounds, a market leading expert in coating systems and functional premixes for the international potato processing industry, successfully sold its business to Solina Group (“Solina”), a leading European producer of savoury ingredients solutions for the food industry.
Through relentless focus on innovation and new product development, Food Compounds has become a specialist in the field of powder-based and granular clean label premixes for the coating of (frozen) potato products, which is inherently part of end-consumers’ experience when consuming potato products.
Food Compounds and Solina share the same entrepreneurial values, agility, flexibility and operational mindset. Beyond a strong cultural fit, both companies are also complementary in terms of customer base and solutions portfolio. Mr. Karel Bezemer, the CEO of Food Compounds, and the team will remain in place and will operate under the lead of Solina’s Central European business unit.
For Solina, this acquisition represents a further step in developing its coating expertise which is defined as a pillar for its future strategic growth, as also evidenced by recent acquisitions of other food coating companies.
Founded in the 1970s, Food Compounds leverages over 40 years of expertise in the field of powder-based and granular premixes for potato industrial customers. Food Compounds’ main products are coating systems and functional ingredients for potato products such as pommes noisettes, pommes duchesses, pommes croquettes as well as French fries. Food Compounds’ solutions anticipate on the growing appetite and ease of multiple food trends, e.g., take-away, fresh produce alternatives and health (reduce oil and fat intake).
Food Compounds is headquartered in Oosterhout, the Netherlands from where the company operates a highly automatised plant with a dedicated allergen free facility.
