Het Urker Zalmhuys - Squarefield

On December 22, 2022, our clients Het Urker Zalmhuys and Kennemervis Groep acquired the assets of Van Wijnen, which went bankrupt in late 2022. Van Wijnen was the oldest salmon company in the Netherlands and produced smoked salmon specialities for industry, foodservice and retail under own brand and private label.

With the support of Het Urker Zalmhuys, Van Wijnen was able to largely continue its operations during the insolvency phase to supply its customers. With the acquisition of the assets the company will continue under the name Zalmhuys van Wijnen. The majority of employees were offered new employment.

Zalmhuys Van Wijnen has four brands in the product portfolio: Hendricks and Hendricks Choice are directed to the consumer market, John Orrin is our brand for Scottish salmon and Van Wijnen is exclusive for food professionals. Zalmhuys Van Wijnen also offers cold and hot smoked salmon that is custom processed to customer specifications for private label production.
